The Outdoor Writers Association of America announced the winners of its 2022 Excellence In Craft Contest. Ohio writer Tim Bete, who is also co-host of the Lure Love Podcast, won both first- and third-place in the blog humor category. Bete's winning essays included Deer in a Kayak
and Minimalist Fishing and Bull Sharks
. It was the first year he had entered the competition.
"The OWAA has some of the best outdoor writers in the nation, so I was thrilled to be among the winners," said Bete. "Plus the prize money means I'm off to the tackle shop to buy more gear. Our motto on the Lure Love Podcast is 'why buy one lure when you can buy 103?' I intend to live up to that."
This year's OWAA contest had more than 645 entries and was sponsored with support from Friesens Publishing, Henry Repeating Arms, Izaak Walton League, Pew Charitable Trusts, and the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation. The complete list of winners can be found on the OWAA website
